The Global Infectious Disease program equips students with a strong academic foundation and interdisciplinary training in infectious disease. Students explore the many ways practitioners’ approach global infectious disease problems through disciplines like epidemiology, mathematical modeling, and diplomacy to advance health outcomes.
Academic Policies
The academic policies and procedures of the Global Infectious Disease program are those specified in the Georgetown University Bulletin, in the SOH Graduate Student Handbook, and in the Program Handbook.
Completion of the Master of Science in Global Infectious Disease requires 30 credits completed over 18 months. Students must select one of two concentrations: Modeling & Informatics or Science Policy.

Thesis Requirements
GLID master’s students are required to complete a capstone research project in their final semester. The nature of the project will be mutually agreed upon among the student, course director, and at least one faculty mentor during the summer prior to enrollment. The project will be used to demonstrate mastery in the core competencies from the student’s concentration (data modeling or science policy).
