Addressing the global crisis requires interdisciplinary training at the intersection of environmental science and international affairs to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and policy expertise. Georgetown University, with its academic strengths, resources, and strategic location, presents the Master of Science in Environment and International Affairs program to provide a comprehensive, interdisciplinary education in this growing field.
Academic Policies
Students in the Environment and International Affairs program are expected to comply with the polices outlined in the University Bulletin.
Program Requirements
To earn the Master of Science in Environment & International Affairs, students must complete 30 credits of coursework which include 15 credits of core coursework, 6 credits of skills-based coursework, and 9 credits of electives.
Students in this program have the opportunity to go beyond the core curriculum and develop expertise in a specific area related to environmental and energy challenges by choose one of three concentrations.
The skills-based courses and electives are selected to complete the concentration.
Core Courses
All students, regardless of their concentration, must take the following core courses:
- Global Environmental Science I (4 credits)
- Global Environmental Politics & Security (3 credits)
- Global Environmental Science II (4 credits)
- Capstone Seminar (1 credit)
- Global Capstone (3 credits)
Concentrations
Concentrations enable students to go beyond the core curriculum and develop expertise in a specific area related to environmental and energy challenges. These concentrations include:
- Global Sustainable Energy Technology & Policy
- Global Environmental Science and Policy
- Environmental Science and International Security
