The Master of Arts program in Communication, Culture and Technology (CCT) is devoted to the study and design of communication, media, and information technology in the full scope of their social, political, cultural, technical, and economic complexity. The curriculum prepares students to be critical thinkers, exemplary scholars, and content creators who apply their knowledge in meaningful ways to the problems and challenges of a world shaped by the globalizing forces of computational and digital communication and information technologies.
Academic Policies
The academic policies and procedures of the CCT program are those specified in Georgetown University’s Graduate Bulletin and the program handbook.
Program Requirements
Students must complete 36 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.000 to be eligible to graduate. In completing 36 credits, all CCT students must:
- Complete CCTP 5005 in the first Fall term.
- Complete CCTP 5006 in the first Spring term.
- Complete at least one Research Methods course, preferably in the first year.
- Complete one of two degree options, Thesis or Coursework.
Students who select the coursework option will complete 36 credits of coursework whereas the thesis option includes 30 hours of coursework and 6 credits of thesis coursework. Additional details regarding the thesis option are below.
Thesis Requirements
Students who opt to complete a master’s thesis must:
- Complete 30 credits of coursework and 6 credits of thesis coursework
- Earn a grade of A- or better in at least one Research Methods course.
- Receive approval from faculty of the master’s thesis proposal.
