Academic Policies

View the MBA Student Handbook for a comprehensive guide to program-specific policies, procedures and opportunities.

Students can customize their MBA degree with the STEM-eligible management science major and with MBA certificates.

Students have the opportunity to cross-register in other Georgetown graduate programs and approved international exchange programs worldwide. Students can also request transfer credit for specific relevant courses taken prior to admission that were not previously applied toward a degree.

To maintain good academic standing and to graduate, students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.000 and less than six credits of failing grades. The MBA Program Office monitors ongoing academic progress and performance after each semester. Students work with program advisors to review their situation, formulate a plan to access resources to improve performance moving forward, and stay in touch about the steps they are taking.

Full-time MBA students are expected to complete all requirements for the degree in two years, and can request to take as long as four years. Part-time and Online MBA students have the option to complete their degree requirements in 24 to 60 months (2 to 5 years). Approved military or medical leave of absences do not count toward time limits to complete the degree.
