The Master of Science in Business Analytics prepares students to drive value-based decisions by combining advanced analytics, business strategy, and leadership skills.
The program is offered in two formats: a 10-month, full-time program delivered on Georgetown’s campus and a 16-month, part-time online program designed for working professionals. Both formats follow the same curriculum and are taught by Georgetown faculty.
Through applied coursework, collaborative learning, and a client-based Capstone Project, students learn to collect and manage data, apply analytical and artificial intelligence tools, communicate findings, and translate complex information into actionable business insights.
Academic Policies
To maintain good academic standing and graduate, students must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.000 and earn failing grades in fewer than six credits of coursework.
The program reviews each student’s academic progress and performance after each academic term. Students experiencing academic difficulty should work with the program’s Academic Director to understand the applicable requirements, available resources, and steps needed to improve their performance.
Failure to meet the program’s academic standards may result in probation, suspension, or dismissal and may affect eligibility for program scholarships and financial aid. Students should consult the MSBA Student Handbook for complete academic standards and procedures.
Program Requirements
In order for a student to be considered eligible for graduation from the MSBA program, the following requirements must be met:
- Completion of the opening residency
- Completion of the mid-program residency
- Completion of all required coursework (30 credits)
- Achievement of a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 at time of graduation
- Earning less than six credits of failing grades of “F” or “U” (a student who earns a grade of “F” in a core course will have to repeat that course in the next cohort sequence or as determined by the MSBA Program Office)
Synchronous Session Participation
For each assigned unit or course, students are required to participate in one weekly live classroom session hosted by the MSBA faculty. A student who, even though registered for a course, has not regularly attended, participated, or otherwise met class requirements may, at the professor’s discretion, not be permitted to attend class sessions, or may receive a lowered participation grade in the course.
Residencies
The program includes two required and intensive five-day residencies (extended online prior to and after the residency) where students earn credit through residency courses; meet the faculty, staff, and other students in their cohort; and connect to the resources they will have in the program and throughout their lives.
Capstone Project
The program does not have any thesis requirements however, in order to graduate, students are required to complete a Capstone Project drawn from real-world business problem and submit a professional final report as well as make a formal presentation to the partner company/organization.
